It is particularly effective for watching Standard Definition content on a HDTV, with the unit decoding video to reduce jaggies, noise and other image problems leading to crisp and clear video.
When watching Standard Definition content on a High Definition Display you may notice that the image is full of 'noise' and image quality is very low. HDTV's all have a video processor inside of them which is generally designed to enhance the image and remove artifacts caused by the conversion and transmission of video, however the quality of such video processors varies dramatically.
The High Definition Scaler with Instant HQV will particularly benefit those with poor video processors inside their TV's, that are unable to adequately process and decode video. The unit has True 10-bit HQV video processing including motion adaptive four-field de-interlacing for SD and HD input resolutions. The unit automatically detects the different type of noise and applies the appropriate per pixel based noise reduction algorithm, and automatically detects all different cadences including 3:2:3:2:2 and animation. The unit also features MDDF (Multi Directional Diagonal Filtering) to eliminate jagged edges for both SD and HD input resolutions, resulting in a more crisp and smooth image.
The unit can output content at a large range of different resolutions, and will upscale content as well. You can select to output content at 480p, 576p, 720p @60Hz, 720p @ 50hz, 1080i@60Hz, 1080i@50Hz, 1080p@60Hz, 1080p@50Hz, 1080p@24Hz, VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, UXGA, WXGA, WSXGA, or WUXGA. |
