Glossary
terms beginning with the letter F.
Fixed Pixel DisplaysDisplay technologies such as LCD, Plasma and DLP that use an non-fluctuating matrix of pixels with a set number of pixels in each row and column. These display devices have actual pixels (picture elements) that make up the display. With such displays, adjusting (scaling) to different aspect ratios because of different input signals requires complex processing. In contrast, the CRT electronics architecture "paints" the screen with the required number of pixels horizontally and vertically. |
